Noteshelf app - my review

Noteshelf is the app I use on my ipad when I want to actually use a stylus and have the urge to go back to old school manually writing on a dayrunner / day planner format page.

Sometimes hand writing just works best.  There is a connection, a freedom, to be able to write, draw, mind map, free hand, sketch out ideas, doodle, by simply putting stylus to screen (digital version of pen to paper).

Noteshelf is cool.  There are many different types of papers you can use.  One that looks like the old school day planner I used to use called Day Runner.  There are shopping list paper, checklist paper, meeting paper, legal pad paper, and just about any type of digital paper you could want.

The interface that blends new school technology to old school hand writing on paper is the best one I've ever used.  I zoom in on a section and write in big letters towards the bottom of the notepad, and it auto puts my writing in the proper size where I intend it to be.

To share a paper or a book, it exports it as a pdf file and can be emailed out or put into evernote.

The writing action is smooth and becomes like old school second nature, in a new technology.

No more bunch of loose notebook papers.

You can set it up in whatever fashion suits you best.

Create a notebook for work, for a project, for your hobbies, for your family vacation, for your business.

The most important thing about doing all this remembering to BACK UP on a regular basis.  Once you delete the app, everything is gone.  So it is imperative to use the back up function on the app.  It connects your ipad to your computer and allows you to back up and to restore.

When it comes to time management, using an old school dayrunner / day planner gives me some sort of connection and makes me feel as if I'm in control.

However there are more efficient ways for time management, keeping scheduled appointments, etc.

When is the time to put down your pet? The hard choice.

My dog Roxy was lethargic and lost weight. Her breathing at her chest was not normal and was fast and seemed labored.

Half black lab, left ear flopped down and the other ear standing up, tail wagging, sitting pretty for a snack, laying her head in my lap for the softest of pets on her hear, was her favorite.

Saying to her, "Who's my pretty Roxy girl?" would always get her to pep up and get her exited. Grab her leash for a walk and she would start running in circles waiting anxiously for the leash to be snapped on so we could go.

When she became lethargic, we took her to the vet. Check up, X-rays, and blood work results revealed that she was super sick. Everything on the blood work was off the charts. Liver failing, and other internal organs failing. She was sick and wouldn't show us.

The vet said there was nothing we could do to bring her back to health and that we could hospitalize her for further testing and leave her there for care, but there was a 50/50 chance she wouldn't make it through the night.

We were devastated. My wife and girls and I cried.

I did not want Roxy's last night to be alone, so we took her home and spent every moment through the night with her.

The next day, Roxy was not better, but not worse. At least that's what I wanted to believe.

She ate and drank sparingly and for the most part stayed laying down with the occasional get up and move to lay in another favorite spot.

I told myself she would get better. Then I researched her condition and read of others who went through the same thing.

Roxy would not reveal to me how sick she was. I was hoping for a sign. I wished she could talk to me and let me know the right thing to do.

My wife bought her a squeaky toy, lamb chop stuffed toy, and Roxy knew it was hers. For an hour she squeaked the toy as she lay there. She was happy.

I fed her the best soft meal until she didn't want anymore.

I went outside with her and she there up clear liquid and some of the food I had fed her.

She stood there in the sun. Taking it all in. She looked at me but in a different way. She drooled, and that wasn't normal, and her eyes were half way rolled up, and that wasn't normal.

I brought her inside and for the next few hours I struggled with what was the right thing to do for my Roxy girl.

The vet said she was not going to recover, yet Roxy was doing everything she could to be awesome. The vet said she was surprised how Roxy was still hanging on and her strong good natured demeanor was amazing.

To make a long story short. We, as a family, said goodbye to our Roxy girl and made the hard choice.

We made her last night and her last day awesome. We celebrated her life, made her comfy, spoiled her, and we were all there with her when she went to sleep peacefully.

We cried. We laughed. We cried some more. My wife and I buried her that day with our other pets at the family ranch.

To love a pet so much, a family member really, and to make the choice to make sure she doesn't suffer and to say that last good bye and give that last hug, and that last kiss, and to make sure she knows she is loved..... all I can say is, when it's your time to do this for your pet, my family and I are sending good vibes your way.

G Shock MTG 900 is a watch that just makes sense

With this watch I do thee wed. Huh? Exactly. I don't understand it either. 8-)

When I saw it the first time, I just had to have it. Don't ask me why. After all, I have a small collection of watches already. From higher end to just plain inexpensive, I do know that whenever I'm at a store, I have a look at the watch counter or display case to see if there is a must have in the bunch.

I think that people that where G Shocks are a super diverse group. That's all I have to say about that.

If you research the thought process behind the design of the watch, you will probably be impressed. Or maybe not. If dropped onto a flat surface, it is designed so that the face and the buttons will avoid contact upon impact.

Quick question about that. Who drops a watch on a flat surface? Just sayin. But hey, if I ever have the watch off my wrist and knock it off a ledge, table, or shelf, and it lands on the floor, at least I'm good to go. 8-)

So why this watch? What makes the "gotta have it" juices flow?

It's tough. It has a reputation for being tough.

I like the way it looks. I included a picture so you be the judge and you can decide if it is something that you could see yourself wearing on your wrist. It's a big watch and kind of bulky too. So if you are a dude with girly wrists, where the face of the watch is bigger than your wrist, forget about it.

The technology in this watch is old yet up to date. Huh? The technology isn't new but packs more punch than most watches that cost 60x more. This watch will cost you less than $100 and is water resistant to 660 feet, is powered by a solar charged battery that will last 11 months in the dark, synchronizes to the atomic clock daily (which makes it more accurate than any other watch that doesn't sync to the atomic clock), has 5 alarms, has a stopwatch, world time, a time memo feature that records up to 30 snapshots in time (makes more sense than watches that utilize a countdown timer especially if knowing the time something happened is important to you), a backlight that is like indiglo, and an auto backlight feature that knows when you turn your wrist to see the time and auto lights if it senses that you need the backlight to see the time.

The digits on this digital watch are super clear and larger than other G Shocks I looked at. In regards to info displayed: battery charge level, day, time, date, and atomic clock sync status.

Now here's one for you. Some reviews talk about how the gray coating on the resin or the stainless steel coating on the resin has scratched off or worn off. Gimme a break. Beat up any watch, and it's gonna look beat up. Scratch or scuff any watch, and the scratches and scuffs will show. Just sayin. If you want a black resin sport watch that you are going to beat up, scratch up, and abuse, or wear daily for manual labor type activity, then get a resin G Shock for that. The metallic finish that covers the resin on this G Shock MTG 900 is not made for manual labor type activity.

Keep in mind that this is not a dress watch. Going to a fancy event? This probably isn't the proper watch to wear. But if you insist on wearing it to a fancy event, consider wearing the band facing up with the watch face on the inside part of your wrist. Then again, I'm not exactly the fashion police, so do what you like. A Rolex or a Tag Heuer diving sports watch is acceptable to wear with a suit, but then again those are more expensive watches that seem to be acceptable to wear with anything.

Here's another one for ya. I bet 99% of those that own a Rolex or a Tag divers watch have never went scuba diving, ever. Just putting it out there and spitting the truth.

I have a feeling if this watch cost $1000 or more, it would fall in the realm of acceptable to wear for just about any occasion.

If you're not hung up on price and you like wearing a $100 watch that packs more punch than most $3000 watches, get you one.

I have a lot of acquaintances and a few friends that wear Rolex. Lemmings I tell ya. The other night my wife and I had court side seats at the Mavs vs Raptors game in Dallas. My G Shock (synced to the atomic clock) was more accurate than any of the numerous Rolex time pieces we were surrounded by.

Tim Chisum is awesome

I went out with a friend of mine tonight, Tim Chisum, and we discussed some new business models and we came up with some awesome ideas.  We still have to develop these, but it's in the works.  Three beers later and an order of fried mushrooms, the ideas still sounded good, so development starts this week. 8-)

She wondered if this woman would give her the information she needed.  As she asked, the woman began to shake her head before Haley even finished her question.  Apologetically, the woman told Haley that she couldn't give out any information.  Then, to Haley's surprise, the woman leaned closer to Haley and said, "I was adopted too.  I can't give you any information about your birth parents, but I can give you the URL to a website that helped me out a lot."  Then, the woman wrote a website down on a sheet of paper and handed it to Haley.

Little Miss Sunshine

Little Miss Sunshine.  What a surprise!  I really enjoyed this movie.  The story is about a little girl who makes into the the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant, and her dysfunctional family takes her on a road trip to get to the pageant from New Mexico to California.  A suicidal uncle, a brother who has taken a vow of silence, a heroine snorting grandfather, a Tony Robbins wannabe of a father who believes that he has the 9 steps to success, and a normal mother who does her best to keep it all together.

The whole movie was a crack up, but the last part is the part that cracked me up the most.  The little girl has to do her act in the talent contest, and it's so outrageous... it's hilarious.

I just about died laughing.

This is a good one to go see now at the theater.
