The technology itself is difficult to develop. Though Google has hired some semantic search experts, the technology behind semantic search engines has been in development for the better part of a decade. "Microsoft's acquisition of Powerset makes perfect sense and is probably the best shot at a disruptive technology that might allow it to leapfrog Google," says Andrei Hagiu, assistant professor of strategy, focusing on technology, at Harvard Business School.

I really dig that term: Disruptive Technology.

Bill Gates is departing Microsoft on Friday.  This dude has been the face of Microsoft for over 30 years.  So if I were the going away party, how huge would I be? 8-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, more money for me.

Amazing what Bill Gates has accomplished.  He has the same 24 hours in a day that everyone else in the world has, and he was able to build an empire.

He defines wealthy, as the wealthy pay the salaries of the rich.

But forget all of that for a moment.  Think of how Microsoft has impacted all of us and touches our lives daily, professional and personal.  It's truly amazing.  Talk about a company that is BUILT TO LAST.

(sigh)

Way to go Mr. Gates.  Be well.

June 17 is the official date of the much-anticipated Firefox 3 release

Mozilla has announced that June 17 is the official date of the much-anticipated Firefox 3 release. Developers and open source software enthusiasts are planning parties all over the world to celebrate the occasion.

Mozilla is encouraging users to participate, too, by helping the Firefox team set the record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. The total number of unique downloads that take place on release day will be submitted for potential inclusion in the Guinness World Records. Over a million users have already signed up to pledge their support.
