How to choose the right check out line at the supermarket grocery store

Successful people are always out to win.  They make plans of attack, know all of the rules, and follow the plans they make with precision and discipline.  Whether it's in the stock market, or on the job, or even just grocery shopping.  The goal is to spend less time at the supermarket, so how do you do this?

  • Look for the fastest cashier.  Speed matters.
  • Seek out a line with a bagger.  A cashier bagger duo will move a line super fast than a cashier working alone.  If you can find a line with two baggers, that's even better.
  • Count the number of shopping cards in each line.  The fewer the carts, the quicker the line in general, but there are other things to look for.  For example.  Carts with identical items or dozens of the same thing are checked out faster than a dozen of different groceries.
  • Stay away from carts with a lot of items.
  • Stay away from carts with a lot of produce as each item needs to be weighed.
  • Stay away from people with bottles to return.
  • Stay away from people that look like they are going to cash a check as this can be very time consuming.  Women who clutch a purse are the most likely to be check cashers.

smoothie king goodness

I'm a big fan of caffeine, and during the summer, coffee is not really my beverage of choice.  Enter... SMOOTHIE KING.  Awe yes.... caffeine with a nice, freshly made, cold smoothie.  It's called a Pep Upper.  Strawberries, passion fruit, and papaya and some caffeine powder all blended together.  It's my favorite.

Now I have not tried all of the other smoothies that Smoothie King offers.  The smallest smoothie that they offer is 20 oz. and costs just under $5 all together, which is more expensive than the venti red eye I get at starbucks by about $1, and since it has more nutritional value than the coffee, I don't mind paying the extra $1.

Today while I was at Smoothie King, I did notice that they had three employees on duty doing nothing.  It's my belief that they can cut payroll costs big time and possibly charge less for their smoothies and be even more profitable.

I asked one of the employees if they were busy on Sundays hence the need for three people to be on duty, and he said... NO, WE ARE SLOW ON SUNDAYS... BUT WE HAVE THREE PEOPLE WORKING EVERY DAY.

Amazing really.  If I were the franchisee of this particular location (Hurst, Texas) I would look into this.... then give me free smoothies for life for the feedback.  Just kee-ding, unless you want to do it. 8-)

This caught my attention today. Like we need more fat in our faces.
