My computer bag is like the united nations of technology. Ipad mini 4, acer chromebook, dell windows notebook. Now I have a calling to add a macbook pro to the collection.
I have a mac mini connected to my tv in the family room that I rarely use, a windows desktop with dual monitors set up at my desk at home. Here's one for you.... how many computers does one person really need? With as many computers as I already have, why do I feel the need of getting a macbook pro?
Just about every day, I take my rolling computer bag with me to my business, and the majority of those days I don't even open up my bag to take any of those tech wonders out to use. Why? Because my android phone does just about everything I need. My bag full of technology is more like a security blanket. Just in case I need something to do something, then I'm good to go. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
I remember when I had an ipad mini. Oh man... I just had to have the ipad mini 4, so I upgraded. Surely that would be a game changer, is what I kept telling myself. Nope.
I remember when I thought I just needed to have a chromebook. I bought a small one thinking that would a game changer. Light weight, long lasting battery. Surely that would be a game changer. Nope. I gave it away because it was too small (screen and keyboard), and bought a 15 inch monitor acer chromebook... as surely a larger screen and a larger keyboard would be a game changer.
Okay... now that I'm thinking about it.... this one was a game changer. The larger keyboard, and the 15 inch screen, the instant on, the long battery life.... all of it makes sense and I actually use it more than my other computers. However there are times when I prefer to use my windows notebook for spreadsheet work or when a chromebook won't do because I need a windows machine.
The negative I experience is when I need to work on a spreadsheet in excel and in order for me to get it to work properly is to upload the spreadsheet to my microsoft onedrive and open the file from there so that windows excel works properly. Yeah, yeah... I know. google sheets. blah blah blah Sometimes excel spreadsheets just don't operate as well on anything else but excel. Just saying.
What do you use and why? I'm referring to the computer you keep in your bag as your daily driver. Let me know.
