Okay, so here's one for ya. I am huge into task lists. My memory sucks for the most part, and telling myself that I will remember it and get to it later without logging it down somewhere is the same as not having that thought in the first place, because it ends up in that place called No. (that nether world of no place)
As I'm always on the hunt for a better way to get more things done and remember stuff, I try every task list maker, to do list app, etc. You name it. I probably tried it.
My favorite note and task list app for my iPhone and iPad is called awesome note. It is cool because I can customize the look, the feel, and the functionality. I can have it look like post it notes, a list, to do list, diary/journal, etc. Heck, i think i just sold myself on using it again on a daily basis.
So why did I stop using awesome note a my task list and note taking app? Because I got an android phone, evo 3D, and awesome note isn't available for android phones.
So I went back to using Evernote as that app is cross platform and is super robust and is I can also use any computer with Internet connection to access my Evernote.
Here's the kicker. With all the technology I have available to me, I've went back to pen and paper! Wtf!? Exactly! I don't get it.
Here's the thing though. I use moleskin notebooks or similar, so it fits in my pants.
So why back to pen and paper? I haven't figure it out yet. There is something about being able to flip through pages of paper. Something about being able to take notes in an order that makes sense to my brain. The flipping through the pages also allows me to see things that I wrote down previously and jogs my memory about something else that was important at some time. Or at least important enough for me to write it down so I would remember it for some reason or other.
Anyway, paper and pen may not be as efficient as an app or Evernote that is searchable, but it sure is effective for me right now. At this time.
Writing it down, taking notes in an order that only I comprehend, and being on top of things makes me a better business manager and a more effective leader. So for now. It is pen and paper for my task lists.
Also, when in a meeting, there is something to be said about the impression one makes when taking notes with own and paper. When typing notes on an iPhone or android phone, it may appear that i am not paying attention or texting.
